Powertronics Tune-up of DuKe 390

I finally got time to play around with the powertronics , The model i received is the updated USB model. Initially had problems connecting it and detecting it on Windows 7,but after contacting RD, i received the USB drivers.

 

Connecting it and booting up the Rtune software is quite simple. The R-tune manual is quite helpful in understanding the various options to play around with.

Unfortunately in the city i stay there is no dyno, so had to do the run's manual, my reports are based on my tests on the road.i started playing with the fuel options.increased the fuel % from stock map setting to about 5% and tested it out.i could notice the change in acceleration and initial.i am currently tyring to understanding the r-tune manual and various options i can play with.once i get an idea will try create maps based on my setup.it would be helpful for people running similar set up's.

Handlebar Clamps for the 390

I found couple of options for the handlebar clamps for 390 duke.you can get them for about 30$ to 80$ depending on the product.

found this one on the ebay for about 30$, looks pretty impressive ,made of CNC Aluminum.

The other option is from biker bits and its around 60 euros. looks like the OEM bar clamp set with orange accents made of aluminum alloy CNC machined.

If you like them, they are currently available only for the duke 200.but i guess the handlebar clamp set is the same for the 200 and 390 duke.so you might check it out at this link.

I have come across these finely machined shift and brake lever, they look great on the bike. they come at a price of 54.99$ + shipping. available on ebay currently sold by bliss-star-express.

KTM 390 Duke Exhaust sound with and without db killer.

Here are the videos you have been waiting for. checkout both videos with and without the db killer, the sound in the videos don't do justice to the actual sound. you have to hear it to believe it. the bike sounds loud and got huge base without the db killer.it is indeed thunderous as the name says  "Dark Thunder". Love it without the db killer but for everyday riding i prefer it with db killer on.Its quite easy to install and remove the db killers.

The Exhaust is quite light, compared to stock. i guess you can loose around 2 1/2 Kilos by installing this one.

There are quite some options like the power commander , kiirus remap and powertronics.

After reading through the blogs and forums,talked to a few people who already installed it. I liked the response for the powertronics and  i am also aware of Race Dynamics from quite sometime while i was in bangalore.
 
I have heard a lot about powertronics on the international forums than on the Indian forums.Its one of the best piggy back ecu available in the market compared to PC.I am quite surprised, this is completely developed and manufactured in India.Kudos to RD.

Review Of KT-1211 K&N Air Filter for KTM Duke 390

I have been researching online for quite sometime about upgrading the stock air-filter and was looking for options.earlier in my blog i have listed the options, (BMC,K&N)

Lot of people on-line have mentioned that there is not much of difference with the change in air filter,some even were worried that its collecting more dust and other myths about engine stalling while running etc...

After reading a lot of blogs, opinions and researching about K&N. i finally got the K&N Stock Replacement Filter KT-1211 for my KTM Duke 390.I am writing this review after using it for about 600Km.I feel there is more than minute difference.

The throttle response is much quicker and the bike feels much smooth while taking past 7000rpm.this does improve the low and mid.fuel economy is slightly improved.Improved exhaust note,its very minute but sounds beefy.some people on the forums were worried of warrany issues but this filter does not void the warranty cause its stock replacement and it is officially listed on the KTM Power Parts Website.

I would definitely recommend this upgrade,at 3500 INR its totally worth it.if you are not planning on changing it right away at least plan it after you run the bike for about 10,000K's or so.
